Local pharmacies have been around for generations
Helping you, your parents and your grandparents. If you want your local pharmacies to be there to help the generations to come, please lobby your MP.
The Department of Health (DH) has indicated it believes that there are up to 3000 too many pharmacies in England. At the same time, they have proposed a series of policy measures which would divert investment from local pharmacies to other care settings or to online suppliers of medicines. The current direction of policy, if not challenged, could lead to a serious fracturing of the pharmacy network in England, leaving many patients with reduced access to face to face advice and treatment and putting extra pressure on GPs and hospitals.

We know that many have different views about how to respond to the repression against LGBT people in Russia.
We have deliberately kept our tool open so you can lobby your MP on your own preferred course of action, for your own reasons. However, we have a few of our own that we'd like to suggest:
1. The Prime Minister, the Foreign Secretary, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition must condemn the anti-LGBT violence in the strongest terms. "Deep concern" is not condemnation.
2. In addition to condemning the violence, they must condemn the state-sponsored nature. The current political discourse and anti-gay legislation enacted in Russia has served to incite hate and violence against LGBT people.
3. Whilst views vary on boycotting the Winter Olympics in Sochi, if they are to take place, UK politicians in attendance should actively indicate support for the LGBT community.
Why we're doing this
It is immensely sobering to go from the recent euphoria in celebrating the passing of equal marriage to seeing the deeply distressing violence and anti-gay legislation passed in Russia. Nothing can sum up why we wanted to do this any better than this excellent summary from PinkNews.
Young LGBT people are being tortured, beaten, driven to suicide whilst the state sits back in silent consent. Whilst it is very easy to feel powerless over something that is going on in a different country so many miles away, the least we can do is show our elected representatives how important this is and state unequivocally that tempered protestations from the UK government are not enough.
